CAPTAIN Jarrod Stundahl

CAPT Stundahl hails from San Diego, California. He is a 1997 graduate of San Diego State University, was commissioned through the NROTC program, and holds a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

His operational tours include communications officer, electronic materials officer, and navigator USS SACRAMENTO (AOE 1); fire control officer and maritime interdiction officer USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DDG 53); weapons officer USS THOMAS S. GATES (CG 51); combat systems officer and executive officer USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101); executive officer USS PORT ROYAL (CG 73); and operations officer for Carrier Strike Group 5 deployed to Yokosuka, Japan aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76).

Ashore, his assignments include command of the Mine Warfare Training Center in Point Loma, California; officer in charge of PRECOMUNIT GRIDLEY (DDG 101) in Bath, Maine; command and control officer for the Joint/NATO Iceland Defense Force/Island Command Iceland at Naval Air Station, Keflavik, Iceland; contingency airlift planner for the Tanker Airlift Control Center, Air Mobility Command's Global Air Operations Center at Scott AFB, Illinois; planner in the Strategy and Theater Posture Division of the Plans, Programs, and Policy Directorate (J5) for U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany; assistant chief of staff for operations for Commander, Naval Forces Korea in Busan, Republic of Korea; and most recently chief, air and cruise missile defense of the homelands division at North American Aerospace Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (five awards), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Joint Service Achievement Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards).
