Colonel Loomis is from Belleville, NY and originally enlisted in the Marine Corps as an air traffic control radar technician in 1994. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on May 22, 2002, after graduating from the US Naval Academy.
Col Loomis’s served as a forward observer, platoon commander, battery executive officer with Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, and Battery Commander with 3rd Battalion, 11th Marines; Battery Commander with 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines, and Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit; Assistant Division Fire Support Coordinator with 1st Marine Division, Battalion Executive Officer with 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines, and Operations Officer with 11th Marine Regiment; Inspector/Instructor for 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company.
Colonel Loomis’s staff assignments include duties as instructor, staff platoon commander, and Artillery Instructor Battery Commander at The Basic School; Congressional Fellow/Legislative Analyst for Congressman Duncan Hunter; Joint Action Control Officer and Aide-de-Camp for the Deputy Commandant, PP&O; G35 Future Operations Director, Marine Forces Pacific; and Crisis and Competition Branch Head, USINDOPACOM J35.
Colonel Loomis is a graduate of the Field Artillery Officer Captain Career Course, Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and National Defense University’s Joint Advanced Warfighting School.
Colonel Loomis and his wife, Anja (LtCol USMCR), have seven children. Amelie/18, CJ/16, Liberty/13, Liam/11, Halle/9, Beriah/7, and Iris/4.
